Hoppe Airspray has been part of Iowa’s farming landscape for decades. The business began in 1978 as a small agricultural aviation company and has grown into a fleet and team that farmers across Iowa and Minnesota rely on for safe, timely, and precise applications.
Ben and Megan Olsem, a husband and wife team, joined the business in 2014. They learned the operation alongside pilots and ground crews and eventually became owners in 2025. They focus on keeping the business close to the team and the community.
Every farm and co-op we work with has unique needs, and we tailor our aerial applications to each customer. Our aircraft are equipped with GPS guidance and flow control systems, and maintenance is handled carefully. Pilots, dispatchers, and ground crews work together to ensure each application is accurate and on time.
When demand increased, the SRDC Revolving Loan Fund helped us expand our fleet and team at the right time. “The RLF program allowed us to add aircraft and crew so we could meet farmers’ needs during our busiest season,” Ben explains. The support strengthened our operations and helped create local jobs in the region.
“The process was smooth, and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful,” Ben adds. “I’d absolutely recommend it to other small businesses looking to grow.”
For Ben and Megan, the most rewarding part of the business is the relationships they have built with farmers, co-ops, and the team. As agriculture evolves, Hoppe Airspray stays focused on safety, reliability, and keeping the business grounded in family values.
